BreakThrough resources

BreakThrough: Families understanding addiction aims to help families/partners/friends understand the nature of addiction and the impact it has on both them and their loved one. It provides participants with a safe and confidential space to share and develop strategies to manage these impacts. An introduction to "understanding addiction" can be found here.

BreakThrough is delivered face-to-face, and since the advent of Covid-19, online via Zoom. Our attend page lists all of our upcoming sessions and bookings are essential.

The resources below are suitable for both session participants and others who've not yet had an opportunity to attend.

Two BreakThrough booklets are available for download. The first, 'Information and Resources' (red booklet) was produced when the focus of BreakThrough was on methamphetamine (ice), however, it's also relevant for families managing other addictive behaviours. The second, 'Information and Activities' (green booklet) provides practical information and strategies about how families can take care of themselves and better manage the thoughts and feelings they have about their personal situation.

The 'Information and Activities' booklet is also supported by a series of worksheets.

The BreakThrough Flyer can be downloaded for display on notice boards etc
